Term 1
Healthy Lifestyle
In line with Athena Atelier's term theme of Healthy Lifestyles, children of the N2 class learned what a healthy lifestyle comprises of, with a focus on healthy diets. Storybooks and My Healthy Plate by Healthhub were used to create a cohesive understanding of a myriad of issues including the different types of healthy foods, the dangers of picky eating, and the right combination of foods to eat healthy meals.
This topic engaged children to be more aware of their environment and cultivated Responsibility in their own choices of food and lifestyle even outside of school.

Term 2
Families
The N2's chosen theme for Term 2 was on families. Throughout the term, children explored the different families that exist, and increased their understanding and appreciation to the world around them by being aware of cultural, language, and other beliefs that can shape family dynamics and structure.
Children gained a deeper understanding of the diversity of the world around them and their role in their families and community, thereby developing their sense of Relationship and Identity.
Term 3
Our Environment
Throughout the term, children were exposed to different aspects of their community and were encouraged to pursue the "Whys" and "Hows" of what they normally see. They were tasked to explore the things they see and draw conclusions to their purpose and role in shaping the environment.
This is to help them understand Relationships between the things they can see and experience, and gain ownership of what they can control in the environment. An example of such a lesson is shown below.

Term 3 Lesson Overview
Our Environment
Lesson Rationale
Why was this lesson crafted?
To help children gain a better understanding of what they see and connect their prior knowledge of different objects and their characteristics to extend their learning and draw new conclusions to their experiences.
Lesson Objectives
Objective #1
Children will be able to compare different objects based on physical and tactile characteristics.
Objective #2
Children will be able to use their prior knowledge to form their own opinion on why the objects sink or float.
Term 3 Lesson Video
Children participated in a lesson where they conducted an experiment to find out what objects they could see around the classroom would sink or float in water. This is in response to their prior experience of observing objects that sink and float outside of the school. This lesson was designed to help them reach a conclusion on their findings and gain a better understanding of what they had experienced.
Teaching Techniques Presented
Facilitation
The teacher provided materials that children were familiar with and could choose from to conduct the activity, giving them the autonomy to conduct independent learning.

Questioning
The teacher used a variety of teaching techniques to help children consolidate their observations, prior knowledge, and extend it to forming new understandings of their experiences.
